My Final Project

Summer!

I love summer! Every year my parents switch between letting my sister and I choose where we want to go for vacation. This year it was my turn to choose, and I chose Egypt. I chose Egypt because it is so rich in history and has such an interesting culture. On June 8 we will leave for Cairo, where we will be staying at the Cairo Marriott Hotel. We will also be staying in Alexandria for a couple of days at the Renaissance Alexandria hotel. While we are in Egypt we will get to see the pyramids of Giza and Chephren, the Cheops pyramid, and of course the sphinx! We will also get to see the Necropolis of Thebes, tomb of King Tut, temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari and the Colossi of Memnon. We will also be going to the High Dam, the Granite Quarries and the Unfinished Obelisk. We will also be visiting the Egyptian Museum which is famous for the treasures of King Tut and its other interesting artifacts. We'll also be going to Old Cairo, where we'll go to the really old Coptic Churches and the oldest Jewish Synagogue. We'll also visit the bazaars in Khan-El-Khalili, for some shopping! There is also a trip down the Nile which we will be taking, and we will be going scuba diving and going to some beaches near Cairo. After we return from Egypt,in July, we will be going to the Wisconsin Dells with my aunt and cousins(Cameron,16,Katlyn,13,and Jacob,9). I am very excited to go to the Dells again this year! My cousins and I love to go on the huge water slides and roller coasters! There are many types of water slides at the Dells, including this really large one that you go down in a large raft with at least 3 other people. It's called the storm, because it's in the dark, except for the fake lightning and thunder that go off. It's really scary, but my cousins always get me to go on it with them in the end. :) We also love going down the lazy rivers, and there's even a two-level one! We also love to go horse back riding. There are really fantastic spas and shopping outlets, too! I am also taking some tai chi, pottery, painting and yoga classes! I also can't wait to get to play tennis with my friends again once my foot is fully healed! :) I love summer and I'm really looking forward to it!

Service Projects! :)

This summer I plan on doing some extra service hours. I am going to work at a nursing home. My friend Megan and I plan on going to the nursing home in east peoria for it, Rosewood, because that is where her grandmother is currently staying. Megan and I believe that this will be a beneficial experience for all of those who are involved. While we are there we will be doing things such as bringing the residents their meals. We will also be socializing and playing games with them, such as checkers or cards.Megan and I believe that this will help us learn a lot about not only work ethic, but also about helping to care for others. We hope that our work at the Rosewood retirement home will help brighten some of the resident's lives, and that it will influence them in a positive way!

My invention!

If I could invent anything, I would make a time machine. However, I would only use it for the good of all beings. For instance, I would go back in time and make sure that Eve never ate the apple so that there never would have been original sin. I believe that would make everyone happy campers. :) I would also help to stop wars and other big things like that. I probably wouldn't let anyone other than myself and those who I trust use it so that nothing bad could happen. I would not use it for bad things or monetary gain because I don't think that it would be right, unless I donated the money to good organizations.

Spring break!

I'm very excited for spring break! It's going to be lots of fun, even though I'm not going anywhere. I want to get ahead on some reading for lit class. I also plan on working on my science fair project that I'm doing with Sharon Lau for extra credit in biology. We're comparing the cleaning products and behavioral habits between Hong Kong and the United States. I'm also going to a black tie party on monday, which should be fun! Megan and I are also hoping that my foot will be better soon, so that we can begin playing tennis again now that the weather is so nice! I'm definately looking forward to Easter! I am also planning on doing other things with Megan and some of my other friends.

Easter!

I love easter! My family and I always go to my great aunt Grace's farm for easter! Her farm is in Atlanta, Illinois. Yes, there IS an Atlanta,Illinois. It's always fun because she has horses, cows, pigs, and chickens. Some of the cows just had calfs, too! They're so cute! I love going to her farm for Easter because our whole family comes, about 45+ people. My mom and I usually do all of the cooking. I have many cousins, and its funny, because the majority of them are boys and my age. All of the guys in my family usually play soccer or baseball outside, while all of the girls usually stay inside. There is also a really fun creek that we walk down to, and the little kids play in it. We always make these really fun jell-o eggs, too, which I love! Yum. :)

Cole and Walker(and Nicole)!

I babysit for the Thompson family almost every day, because the parents are very busy. They have three kids. Cole and Walker, who are twins and 2 years old. They also just adopted Nicole not too long ago, who is 4 years old. Cole and Walker were born prematurely, and have been affected by many health issues. Walker is considerably healthier than Cole, but has a low immune system. Cole has lung issues, so he had to be trached and vented. The trach and ventilator help him to breath while his lungs become stronger, and we hope to be able to take him off of it before he turns 5. Because Cole is trached and vented I had to take a special course at the trach and vent center, and had to be trained by my mom(who is usually his at-home daytime nurse) so that I could be come a certified caregiver for him. I had to do this before I could babysit because otherwise it would be illegal. :) Nicole is also trached and vented. Cole is so sweet, he loves music and he enjoys laughing at me even when I'm not doing anything funny. Even if I'm just sitting there doing homework, eating yogurt, or whatever he just randomly starts laughing hysterically at me. Walker is a very busy child. He loves to play and run around, but you have to be careful because he sometimes tries to take Cole's trach out of his neck(he actually did once and I had to put it back in!!!). Nicole isn't as active as the twins because she is also disabled(in addition to being trached and vented). I end up singing and dancing for them most of the time, because it calms them down(and they find it funny :P). They like to watch TV,too. Their favorite shows are Veggie Tales and Wheel of Fortune(don't ask me why because, frankly, I really don't know :P). Walker likes to watch AARP and Hillshire Farms commercials. It's really funny! I love them so much, they're the cutest kids ever!

My Sister Sarah!

Sarah is my only sibling and I wouldn't have it any other way! She's three years older than me. We have a good relationship and are bestfriends( a list of many)! :) She's a freshman in college and she is going to be an accountant. This is one of the few ways that we're different. She's immensely good at every kind of math, and I'm what I like to call "mathematically challenged". Hehehe. We do lots of things together, for instance we go out to eat at sushi popo and that new indian place a lot. We like to play massive games of Uno, we just divide the deck in two and play. There was this one weekend when that was all we did, had a marathon Uno game. Hahahaha! We do karaoke, too. We do a superb version of "Total Eclipse of the Heart"(and pretty much every Taylor Swift song), hahahaha!!! I'd like to say that we only sing during karaoke, but we don't. It's really funny because I'll just be cooking dinner in the kitchen or something and she'll come in singing. We randomly break out in song and dance sometimes. We're just weird like that. This picture is of my sister and I on my first day of preschool, I'm the short one. :)

St.Patrick's Day!!!

My favorite St.Patrick's day memory was when Kaylee and I went to dinner with all of her family at this one restaurant in Chicage, I can't remember the name of it but it was an Irish pub. It was a really good time! After dinner, we went over a bridge and we saw that the river underneath it was green! They had dyed it specially for St.Patrick's day! We also went to a parade. There were many bands and floats! There were even clowns and people walking on stilts! There must have been a zillion people there! After that we went back to the hotel and went swimming in the pool! We played pool games, like marco polo, and other things. It was so much fun, I hope we go again sometime soon!

Super cute puppy!

My Best Friend,Megannnn Hilllllll!!!!

Megan Hill is my best friend ever! Seriously. We met freshmen year, and we've been friends ever since. We don't even have any classes together, so I'm not really sure how we we even met,but whatever. Megan always makes me laugh. Whenever I see her I just start laughing(not because she's funny looking, just because I do). Our friendship amazes me because we don't even have anything in common, and we're still BFFs. For example, my favorite color is pink and she loves blue. We also love to watch dancing with the stars together, and trade books. :) We would do anything for each other. :D Megan is completely hilarious and random. She thinks the most random and stupid things are really funny and she has these fits of uncontrollable laughter. It's really funny! One of the things I like about her is that nothing ever gets her down, she is always super, super happy! I love Megan!

15 Things I Want To Do Someday(AKA the longest post ever!!!)

1)See the cubs win the world series-more than once!!!!

2)Go canoeing again- I went canoeing once before on a class trip and I really enjoyed it!
3)Become a realtor/have my own realty firm-It just sounds fun! :)
4)Learn how to swing dance-Hehehe, I think it would be fun!
5)Take a pottery class
6)Get a dog- I've always wanted a dog but my parents don't like them so I haven't been able to. I want a golden retriever or a scottish terrier, or both!
7)Learn how to fly a plane-This probably won't happen, but it's fun to think about. (Jazlyn and erin ,who're in my behind the wheel class, would probably have a laughing fit if I told them this because I freak out when I'm only driving a car;so who knows what would happen if I flew a plane! :P)
8)Go to college- I'm thinking about going to either Bradley or the University of Illinois. I originally wanted to go to Yale(If you major in business, you get to have Kate Spade come to speak at one of your classes!!!), but it would be waaaaaay to expensive and my parents are making me pay for college by myself!
9)Get married and have a family- Who doesn't want to do this?!? Plus, I love kids! :)
10)Buy a house- I want a house with a pool and a HUGE kitchen because I loooovvvveee to cook and bake! Truthfully, I probably bake way to often. I sometimes get this random urge to bake stuff at,like, 2 am. My family makes fun of me so much for it but they don't care if I do or not because they like to eat what I make! :)
11)Buy a sailboat-I don't really need a big, fancy boat. I just think it would be fun to go sailing on weekends and whatnot. :D
12)Learn how to play the piano-My mom made me take a billion classes when I was little!! I played the violin, saxophone, clarinet, and piano(none of them lasted for very long, I hated it!). I also did tumblebus(and other tumbling),and pretty much every kind of dance and art class you can think of. The only sport I did was tennis. Although I did drop the piano classes, I sort of want to take it up again.
13)Take up tennis- I used to play all the time, but I just kind of stopped.
14)Coach my child's soccer/basketball/whatever team- Of all the things on my list this is probably the least likely one. Mainly because I don't actually know anything about sports. Maybe I'll just supply the treats and host the after-game parties. :D
15)Learn how to fix a car by myself- This is something I've always wanted to do, just in case my car breaks down in the middle of nowhere or something. :)

My BFF Savannah

So,hi. Today I'm going to tell you about my best friend Savannah. She's pretty awesome and whatnot. She makes me laugh 24/7, even when she isn't trying. She is really into the most random stuff. She positively adores yellow. She also likes animal prints, but mainly zebra print! She likes german stuff too. Her hero is Audrey Hepburn. She is kind of a dork, but I don't care. We have lit and technology together. It's great. We are BFFFFFFs. Seriously. She is weird, she likes to sniff old people. Hahhahahhahaha! We have many, many inside jokes. :) She makes fun of me a lot, but I don't care because I make fun of her too. We have fun!

My Favorite Project

We have had so many projects so far this semester! Of all the projects, my favorite one was the song project. Savannah and I both did Lovebug by the Jonas Brothers, hahaha! I loved it! It was fun and I enjoyed finding picture to go along with the lyrics. I ended up finding many cute pictures, and I was very happy with it when I was finished. :) I put pictures of all sorts of things including cute little lady bugs and many different hearts. Svannah's was cute, too. She had the cutest pictue of Hello Kitty dressed up as a lady bug! Hehehehe! I am looking forward to being able to add the actual song to it later, because I think that it will be very good!

My Pets!

I have had many pets in my life. I really love dogs but my parents don't so they won't let me have one. :( If I could I would get a labrador retriever or a scottish terrier(or both!). I have two cats, Tiger(boy) and Sally(girl). We actually got them from this really nice family that lives across the street from my church, they were giving them away and we just couldn't resist! When we got them they were only three weeks old and soooo cute. They could fit in my hand! We actually had five of them originally but we gave the three others to my grandparents. I also have five fish, but they are really boring and do nothing. They just stay in one place and don't even swim around. I think we got ripped off by the petstore. :P My cats are really stupid. They sort of have this obsession with feet. They try to  sleep on my head sometimes too. I have to push them off because I can't breathe and I don't really enjoy them laying on my head. They are complete dorks, but they love everyone and are really friendly. I pretty much like most animals, but lizards and spiders and that kind of thing creep me out. They're sort of cute in their own way,but still. Ew. Anyway, that's it. Feel free to comment! :)

Comment

Mrs.Brown, I'm going to comment on Savannah's blog!

The Worst Valentines Day Memory

My worst Valentines day was when Savannah and I were eight years old and we got in a huge fight! We both had a crush on her neighbor,Paul, who was our age. I was really excited because I had handmade him a card and I was going over to Savannah's that day and I was going to give it to him. But, when I got there and showed Savannah the card to see what she thought first she freaked out because she was giving him a card and I couldn't!!! I was so mad because I liked him and she couldn't like him because he was mine! But, when we went over to his house it ended up that he didn't like either of us!!! We were upset at the time, but we got over him and weren't mad at each other any more. :)

Confessions of a Shopaholic

I am so happy that they are finally making Confessions of a Shopaholic into a movie! I am so excited because my sister and I have both read the entire series and we love them. The series is by Sophia Kinsella, who is a brilliant author. She also has many other books that I recommend if you like or think that you would like the Shopaholic series. The book follows a british girl, Becky who (obviously) loves to shop. The twist is that she's up to her head in credit card bills, even though she actually works for a finance magazine and her job is to give out advice on money. The movie doesn't actually look a lot like the book(from what I have seen from the trailer), but I am sure it will still be worth going to! :)

The Academy Awards!

The academy awards are coming up soon and I am going to post today about who I think should win what. :) Brad Pitt should win the leading actor award for Benjamin Button, because I just recently saw it and I thought that he did very well. Anne Hathaway should win the leading actress award for Rachel getting married because I thought that she was good too. Kung Fu Panda should win the animated feature film because I thought it was really funny and cute, I went to see it with my little cousin. Either slumdog millionaire or Benjamin Button should win best picture. There were many good films this year and many deserving actors and actresses. I don't usually watch the academy awards, but I might this year. I like to see what everyone wears, the actresses always have the most beautiful dresses. :) Anyway, that's it for now. You can comment if you want. ^_^

My friend Kaylee

Today I am going to inform you about my friend Kaylee. She is super awesome and crazy! We have computers and gym together. I like to sit by her in computers because we are both technically challenged, haha! Gym is fun with her too because when we do a video she never knows what to do and she makes up her own silly moves. We also like to watch the housewives of orange county and stuff together which is super fun. She loves animals and batman and other crazy things. Her favorite color is pink, just like me!We also have the same purse, but in different colors, because we pretty much like the same things, hahaha! Her nails are always pretty, too. She makes me laugh and is fun to be with! Her blog is my fav and you should check it out! Yay! ^_^

Tae Bo!

I love tae bo, hahahaha! I like it because you look like an idiot when you do it! It does not matter who you are, you WILL look stupid when you do tae bo! The outfits that the people wear in the video are hilarious, crazy colored spandex! Also, the moves that you have to do are really funny and have crazy names! Double time is especially fun, because there are silly lights and crazy music! It would be fun to be a tae bo instructor! You would be really healthy and you would get to laugh at people all day, hahaha! Plus, you would get to wear funny outfits and no one would care! If you have never done tae bo I recommend trying it, you WILL LOVE IT!:D

The Inauguration!

Hey everybody! I'm sure that you all have at least heard something about President Obama's inauguration on tuesday. I watched it when I got home from school yesterday, and I thought that he did really well! His speech was excellent , and I'm sure it will be looked at and read in history books until the end of time! The parade was also fun to watch, the bands were huge! Some of the bands had almost as many people in them as in my entire school! I'm sure that the first lady's feet must have been killing her standing in those heels all day! I can only imagine how exhausted they both are today after all of those inauguration balls (10!) that they had to go to last night! On another note, their clothing choices were wonderful. I don't know if you saw, but President Obama wore a bow tie, haha! Cute right? Michelle's dresses were beautiful! The children's clothes were cute too, made for them especially by J.Crew. I'm sure you'll be able to pick those up sometime very soon! :)  The First Lady will surely go down in history as being another Jackie O. Anyway, that's all for now!

My faith

Hey everyone! I hope your having fun with your blog because I certainly am! Today I am going to tell you a little bit about my religion and my life. My mom and her side of the family are all Presbyterian(protestant). My dad and his side of the family are all catholic. Although my dad is catholic, I go with my family to both Grace Presbyterian and United Prebyterian church. My parents decided that even though they are different types of Christians that they would raise me as Presbyterian. I was baptised at Arcadia Avenue Presbyterian Church(which has since closed). My parents sent me to a private school(P and Leadership Academy which later changed to Peoria Academy) from pre-k through 8th grade. They are having me go to a catholic high school now so that I can learn a little more about the catholic faith, and to see if at some point I might like to convert. Anyway, that's about it and I hope that you found this a little bit interesting! Feel free to comment! :)

Computer class!

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog and I hope that you like it! I tried my best to make it pretty! :) My favorite color is pink, but I thought blue would be a better color theme for it. Right now it is my fourth computer class and I love it! I am pretty much confused by the mac, but it is starting to get easier as I get more experience with it. Also, my friend is helping me a lot with it. (Thank you Savannah! You're my favorite!) It is really fun! Hopefully, by the end of the semester I will understand most of the ways that you can use the mac. I am pretty happy because I was able to finish my banned books project in one class, so I can work on my blog now! For some reason it will not let me comment on other people's blogs right now but hopefully I will figure out why before too long! I'm really looking forward too commenting on everyone's blogs! I wrote about Bridge to Terabithia, which is actually a very good book. I read it in fifth grade. :) Hopefully I will be able to do well on future projects, also. Everyone (including me!) seems to be enjoying computer class, which is really great! Be sure to check every now and then for new posts and follow my blog! I'll try to follow as many people's blogs as I can! Be sure to leave me a comment or two I would love to know what you all think!

All about me!

My name is Allison Marie, but I also go by Allison or Alli.
